One of the best ways to speed up your older or recently old PC, is to upgrade some key components. These upgrades can be as inexpensive or expensive as you want them to be, it all depends on existing equipment, upgradeability of your PC and how deep your pockets are. Good starting point is RAM (random access memory), Windows 2000\XP\Vista loves as much ram as it can get. Max out your ram, if possible on your PC, I would recommend no less than 1.5GB of ram. There are several little tricks that can be done with additional ram too, so load it up.

The CPU is your next stop, when the brain can process faster and more efficiently then things run faster and better. Replacing your CPU will depend on what your motherboard will allow you to upgrade to of speed and performance. Again, your computer manual should have the information on how far you can upgrade your hardware to, however if you have a custom made computer, you can use this application to find out what motherboard, cpu, memory, sound, etc.. you have in your system.

Video cards have come a long ways and rate right up there for must have in performance upgrades needed. Video cards come in a wide range of flavors and options. Video cards now have huge amounts of built in RAM and very fast CPU's, which take a lot of work off your motherboards CPU. The benefits in video performance output can be quite amazing. There are tons of on line places to purchase this equipment “ I like ZipZoomFly personally” just make sure to consult your manuals on how far and how much you can upgrade to. Happy Upgrading!!!!
