Here's my preview review of Google's Chrome “beta” browser. First of all I find it sleek, quick, and compact For the novice in us, it will import your favorites\bookmarks and saved passwords for sites that you usefrom your other browser (IE,Firefox..). It's built on the same core as the Safari web browser (WebKit ) instead of the Mozilla core. Now at this time there is no “add-on's” for this browser (not sure if there will be either) for Google's thinking here is more on OS choices and decisions, than look at my new browser.
It's important to remember that this is a beta and that this won't fit (and I don't think it was intended to) everyones needs. Firefox is a faster browser too, until you start adding tons of add-ons, which start to bog it down. Chrome will be great for my bootable thumb drive (USB) for it's small and compact like Opera. My personal concerns with Google Chrome is it's security. What really got me hooked on Firefox was the use of the “master password” to protect my site usernames and passwords. This is not the case in Google Chrome, which really knocks it out as my “Main Browser” for my computers. It has come to light that there are a number of
security vulnerability found currently, which cause some questions also. However we should remember that this is a “beta” and not the “final” release. I'm sure Google will patch these issues and examine the needs and wants of users for their new browser.
I do like the
crash control tab feature that they, which like Windows task manager, allows you to kill any tab that may be hanging up the entire browser. Also the incognito mode does allow for “discrete browsing” while surfing the web (which I recommend if you are going to try Google Chrome). Like with anything it's going to come down to what best suites your surfing needs. But please remember that with “any beta” be cautious and don't goto to your favorite sites that require a username and password to get into. I know we all like to try the latest new toy, but use some common sense when playing....
