Anyone remember that no boot disk error message if you forgot to remove a floopy from the drive? (Yes that seems like ages ago ) How many times did techs back then have to go over and charge the 50 or 60 dollar flat rate just to remove the diskette and hit a key.? Most companies that do repairs have a flat or starting rate even for the simplest of problems. Take your car to the garage and you will be charged something even if it was only a loose battery connection. So taking into account the comment made by Karen Webster, a small fee ( no more than 1 hours worth imo ) is acceptable to me for a problem such as described in the video. I myself would not charge for it but I do not do this for a living. For those who do, they can't be blamed for charging for their time if it is within reason.
Great report. But, I don't think it's proper to say all they had to do was plug in a cable. The repair tech had to go through a troubleshooting process, which takes time. Kudos to the repair shop who didn't charge anything. Sounds like something Jay would do.
